Community Guidelines

Opinyn is a social decision platform where people can publish dilemmas, ask questions, share opinions, vote and interact with the community.

These Community Guidelines explain what is and is not allowed on Opinyn. They apply to all users, accounts, profiles, dilemmas, answer options, votes, photographs, videos, comments, links and other content or activity on the Service.

By creating an account or using Opinyn, you agree to follow these Community Guidelines.

Core principles

Opinyn is built around open discussion, different perspectives and difficult choices. Users may disagree, criticise ideas and express unpopular opinions.

However, freedom of expression does not permit users to:

• exploit or endanger children;
• threaten or promote violence;
• sexually exploit another person;
• bully, harass or intimidate others;
• promote hatred against protected groups;
• defraud or deliberately deceive users;
• expose private information;
• manipulate votes or platform systems;
• infringe another person’s rights;
• use Opinyn for illegal or seriously harmful activity.

Users must consider the context and possible effects of their content before publishing it.

User responsibility

You are responsible for all content and activity submitted through your account.

Before publishing content, you must reasonably ensure that:

• you have the right to publish it;
• it does not violate applicable law;
• it does not violate these Community Guidelines;
• it does not unjustifiably expose another person’s private information;
• it does not create a serious risk of harm;
• statements presented as facts are not knowingly false or deceptively manipulated;
• photographs, videos and other protected materials are used with appropriate permission or another lawful basis.

Anonymous posting does not remove your responsibility.

Although an anonymous post may not display your public profile identity, Opinyn may retain the internal connection between the post and your account for moderation, security, abuse prevention and legal compliance.

Child safety

Opinyn has zero tolerance for the sexual exploitation, abuse, grooming or endangerment of children.

A child or minor means any person under 18 for the purposes of these child-safety rules, regardless of the minimum age for holding an Opinyn account.

You must not publish, request, share, promote, store, facilitate or link to:

• child sexual abuse material;
• sexual or sexualised images, videos or depictions of a minor;
• sexual activity involving or apparently involving a minor;
• sexualised comments about a minor;
• grooming or sexual solicitation of a minor;
• requests for sexual images or videos from a minor;
• attempts to move inappropriate communication with a minor to another platform;
• instructions that facilitate child exploitation;
• content that normalises, encourages or celebrates child sexual abuse;
• content offering or seeking access to exploited children;
• sexual role-play involving minors;
• threats or coercion directed at a minor for sexual purposes;
• sextortion involving a minor;
• identifying or private information that exposes a minor to exploitation or serious danger;
• content encouraging a minor to participate in dangerous, illegal or exploitative conduct.

You must not use cartoons, animation, artificial intelligence, edited media or fictional presentation to depict or promote sexual abuse or sexualisation of minors.

Legitimate educational, documentary, medical, journalistic or child-protection discussion must not include unnecessary exploitative details or prohibited imagery.

Suspected child sexual exploitation must be reported immediately through Opinyn’s reporting tools. Where a child may be in immediate danger, contact the competent authorities or emergency services.

Opinyn may immediately remove content, suspend an account, preserve relevant evidence and report suspected child exploitation to competent authorities or authorised child-protection organisations where required or permitted by law.

Nudity and sexual content

You must not publish, request, share, promote or facilitate:

• pornography;
• explicit sexual activity;
• visible genitalia presented in a sexual context;
• explicitly sexualised nudity;
• sexual fetish content;
• sexual exploitation or coercion;
• non-consensual intimate images or videos;
• secretly recorded intimate content;
• threats to publish intimate material;
• sextortion;
• sexual assault content presented for gratification or humiliation;
• content facilitating illegal sexual services;
• sexual content involving or apparently involving a minor;
• sexual content created or altered to depict a real person without consent;
• explicit links or instructions directing users to prohibited sexual content.

Limited nudity or sexual subject matter may be permitted where it is lawful, appropriately presented and genuinely necessary for:

• health education;
• medical information;
• breastfeeding;
• childbirth;
• recognised art;
• documentary or journalistic reporting;
• public-interest discussion;
• abuse awareness or victim support.

Such context does not automatically make content permissible. Opinyn may restrict or remove content where its presentation remains exploitative, graphic, age-inappropriate or unsafe.

Bullying and harassment

You must not:

• threaten, intimidate or repeatedly target another person;
• encourage others to harass someone;
• send repeated unwanted or abusive messages;
• use degrading sexual remarks against another person;
• shame or humiliate a person through targeted content;
• mock or exploit someone’s disability, illness, trauma or private circumstances;
• celebrate or encourage serious harm suffered by an individual;
• stalk or monitor a person in a threatening manner;
• disclose private information to intimidate or harm someone;
• threaten to expose private or intimate information;
• blackmail or extort another person;
• create an account or dilemma primarily to humiliate someone;
• organise coordinated harassment;
• encourage followers to attack or mass-report another user;
• repeatedly contact a person after they have clearly requested that contact stop;
• target a minor with degrading, sexual or threatening conduct.

Disagreement, criticism, parody and discussion of public figures are not automatically harassment.

When reviewing content, Opinyn may consider:

• severity;
• repetition;
• intent;
• power imbalance;
• public-interest context;
• whether the person is a minor or otherwise vulnerable;
• whether credible threats are involved;
• the likelihood of offline harm.

Criticism of conduct or ideas is generally more acceptable than targeted attacks on a person’s dignity, safety or protected characteristics.

Hate speech and hate symbols

You must not attack, threaten, dehumanise, exclude or promote hatred or serious discrimination against people based on protected characteristics, including:

• race;
• colour;
• ethnicity;
• nationality;
• national origin;
• religion or belief;
• caste;
• sex;
• gender;
• gender identity;
• sexual orientation;
• disability;
• serious medical condition;
• immigration status;
• another characteristic protected by applicable law.

Prohibited content includes:

• calls for violence against a protected group;
• claims that members of a protected group are subhuman;
• encouragement of forced segregation or exclusion;
• praise for serious hate crimes;
• slurs used to attack or intimidate;
• denial or celebration of well-documented mass atrocities for hateful purposes;
• content promoting the superiority or inferiority of protected groups;
• content recruiting for violent or hateful organisations;
• symbols, slogans or gestures used to promote hateful ideology;
• targeted harassment based on a protected characteristic.

Content containing hateful language or symbols may be permitted when clearly used for:

• education;
• historical documentation;
• journalism;
• condemnation;
• counterspeech;
• artistic or scientific discussion.

The context must be clear. Adding a superficial disclaimer does not automatically make hateful content permissible.

Violence and dangerous content

You must not publish, promote, request or facilitate:

• credible threats of violence;
• incitement to commit violence;
• instructions for carrying out violent crimes;
• terrorism or violent extremist activity;
• recruitment or fundraising for violent organisations;
• praise or celebration of terrorist attacks;
• glorification of mass violence;
• graphic violence intended primarily to shock, threaten or abuse;
• instructions for making weapons or explosives for harmful purposes;
• dangerous challenges likely to cause serious injury or death;
• encouragement of reckless behaviour that creates an immediate safety risk;
• animal cruelty;
• human trafficking;
• kidnapping, torture or organised violent abuse;
• content identifying a target for violent attack;
• false emergency information likely to cause panic or interfere with public safety.

Content relating to violence may be permitted where necessary for legitimate news reporting, education, documentation, awareness, condemnation or public-interest discussion.

Opinyn may add warnings, restrict visibility or remove graphic content even where the context is legitimate.

If a threat appears credible or someone may be in immediate danger, contact emergency services. Opinyn’s reporting system is not an emergency-response service.

Suicide, self-harm and eating-disorder content

Users may discuss mental health, recovery and personal experiences in a supportive manner.

You must not:

• encourage or celebrate suicide or self-harm;
• provide detailed instructions for suicide or self-injury;
• challenge or pressure someone to harm themselves;
• coordinate a suicide pact;
• mock or harass a person because of self-harm;
• graphically display self-harm for shock or encouragement;
• promote eating disorders as desirable;
• provide harmful instructions for extreme starvation, purging or similar conduct;
• target vulnerable users with content encouraging self-destructive behaviour.

Supportive discussion, prevention resources, recovery stories and requests for help are permitted.

Where we believe there is a credible and immediate threat to life, Opinyn may take protective steps, including contacting competent authorities where legally permitted.

Spam, scams and misleading activity

You must not:

• repeatedly publish unwanted, irrelevant or duplicated content;
• conduct phishing or steal account credentials;
• operate financial, romance, employment or investment scams;
• impersonate a person, company or public authority;
• use deceptive links or redirects;
• distribute malware or malicious files;
• falsely advertise goods, services, promotions or giveaways;
• make fraudulent fundraising requests;
• falsely claim affiliation with Opinyn;
• create fake reviews or testimonials;
• use clickbait intended to deceive rather than attract attention;
• buy, sell or exchange accounts, votes, Aura, followers or engagement;
• create fake accounts for coordinated activity;
• use automated accounts without written permission;
• direct users to illegal or fraudulent services.

Legitimate commercial content may be subject to separate labelling, disclosure or advertising requirements.

False or deceptive information

Opinyn permits opinions, predictions, debate, humour and satire.

However, you must not knowingly create, manipulate or distribute materially false or deceptive information where it is likely to:

• cause significant harm;
• defraud users;
• create a serious public-safety risk;
• damage another person through fabricated evidence;
• interfere unlawfully with civic or democratic processes;
• impersonate another person;
• misrepresent a product, service or event;
• create panic through a false emergency claim.

Prohibited conduct may include:

• manipulated media presented as authentic;
• materially altered audio, images or video used to deceive;
• false medical claims likely to cause serious harm;
• fraudulent financial or investment claims;
• false public-safety instructions;
• fabricated allegations presented as verified evidence;
• coordinated disinformation campaigns;
• undisclosed impersonation;
• fake endorsements;
• AI-generated content deliberately presented as authentic evidence of a real event.

Content is less likely to violate this rule when it is clearly identified as:

• opinion;
• satire;
• parody;
• fiction;
• prediction;
• unverified personal experience;
• appropriately labelled AI-generated or manipulated media.

A label does not protect content that otherwise facilitates fraud, abuse or serious harm.

Privacy and personal information

You must not publish or threaten to publish another person’s private or confidential information without a valid legal basis or permission.

This includes:

• home addresses;
• private telephone numbers;
• personal email addresses;
• identification documents;
• financial information;
• passwords or login credentials;
• precise real-time location;
• confidential medical information;
• intimate or sexual information;
• private communications;
• information that exposes someone to stalking, fraud or violence.

Particular care is required for information concerning minors.

Information that is technically available elsewhere may still be prohibited if it is republished to harass, intimidate or create a serious safety risk.

Intellectual-property rights

You must respect copyright, trademark and other intellectual-property rights.

You must not publish content that you do not own or have permission or another lawful basis to use.

Permitted uses may include lawful quotation, criticism, review, parody or another exception recognised by applicable law.

You must not knowingly submit a false copyright complaint.

Rights holders may submit complaints to info@opinyn.com in accordance with the Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy.

Illegal goods, services and activities

You must not use Opinyn to offer, request, promote or facilitate:

• illegal drugs;
• illegal weapons;
• stolen goods;
• forged documents;
• human trafficking;
• sexual exploitation;
• unlawful gambling;
• illegal financial services;
• hacking services;
• malware;
• sale of personal data;
• evasion of law enforcement;
• another illegal product, service or activity.

Discussion of illegal activity for legitimate educational, preventive, documentary or journalistic purposes may be permitted where it does not facilitate the activity.

Platform and voting integrity

You must not interfere with the authenticity or operation of Opinyn.

Prohibited conduct includes:

• voting more than permitted through fake or duplicate accounts;
• using bots or scripts to submit votes;
• buying or selling votes;
• coordinating artificial voting;
• manipulating Aura, scores, badges, ranks or statistics;
• creating fake accounts to influence results;
• exploiting technical errors;
• scraping content or user data without permission;
• bypassing security or account restrictions;
• reverse engineering except where expressly permitted by law;
• introducing malicious code;
• overwhelming or disrupting the Service;
• evading suspension by creating replacement accounts;
• encouraging others to manipulate platform systems.

Opinyn may invalidate artificial votes and correct affected results, Aura, scores or statistics.

Misuse of reporting tools

Users are expected to report suspected violations.

Reports must be submitted honestly and in good faith.

You must not:

• knowingly submit false reports;
• report content only because you disagree with it;
• coordinate mass reporting to silence a user;
• repeatedly submit the same rejected report without new information;
• use reports as retaliation or harassment;
• misrepresent facts or submit fabricated evidence;
• threaten users with false reports.

Serious or repeated misuse of reporting tools may result in restrictions.

Reporting a violation

If you reasonably believe content or behaviour violates these Community Guidelines or applicable law, promptly use the reporting function available through the three-dot menu or another reporting interface.

Available categories may include:

A. Child safety

Use this category for:

• child sexual exploitation;
• grooming;
• sexualised content involving minors;
• dangerous exposure of a minor;
• serious abuse or endangerment of a child.

B. Nudity or sexual content

Use this category for:

• pornography;
• explicit sexual activity;
• prohibited nudity;
• non-consensual intimate content;
• sextortion;
• sexual exploitation.

C. Bullying or harassment

Use this category for:

• threats;
• stalking;
• repeated targeting;
• blackmail;
• humiliation;
• coordinated harassment;
• disclosure of private information intended to harm.

D. Hate speech or hate symbols

Use this category for:

• attacks based on protected characteristics;
• promotion of hatred;
• calls for violence against protected groups;
• prohibited hateful organisations or symbols.

E. Violence or dangerous content

Use this category for:

• credible threats;
• terrorism;
• graphic violence;
• dangerous challenges;
• self-harm encouragement;
• instructions likely to cause serious injury.

F. Spam, scam or misleading information

Use this category for:

• spam;
• phishing;
• fraud;
• impersonation;
• malicious links;
• deceptive commercial activity;
• artificial engagement.

G. False or deceptive information

Use this category for:

• materially false harmful claims;
• manipulated media presented as real;
• false medical or financial claims;
• fabricated evidence;
• harmful disinformation.

H. Something else

Use this category where none of the listed categories accurately describes the issue.

You must provide a clear description explaining:

• what happened;
• which content or account is involved;
• why you believe it violates the rules or law;
• any relevant context.

Where appropriate, include evidence or the precise location of the content.

Illegal-content notices

A user or other person who believes content is illegal may submit a notice through the available reporting mechanism or contact info@opinyn.com.

A notice should contain enough information for Opinyn to identify and assess the allegedly illegal content, including:

• a sufficiently explained reason why the content is alleged to be illegal;
• the exact electronic location of the content, such as a link or content identifier;
• the reporting person’s name and email address where legally required, except where special rules protect anonymous reporting;
• a good-faith confirmation that the information is accurate and complete.

Opinyn may distinguish between:

• reports alleging a violation of Community Guidelines; and
• formal notices alleging illegal content.

Emergency situations must be reported to the competent emergency services.

Enforcement

When content or conduct violates these Community Guidelines, Opinyn may:

• take no action where no violation is found;
• issue an educational notice or warning;
• request changes;
• label content;
• limit recommendations or visibility;
• age-restrict content;
• disable comments or other features;
• remove content;
• invalidate votes or engagement;
• correct Aura, ranks, badges or statistics;
• temporarily restrict account functions;
• temporarily suspend an account;
• permanently terminate an account;
• prevent creation of replacement accounts;
• preserve evidence;
• report matters to competent authorities where required or permitted.

Enforcement may depend on:

• severity;
• context;
• intent;
• actual or potential harm;
• whether a minor is involved;
• frequency and previous violations;
• cooperation with an investigation;
• legal requirements.

A single serious violation may result in permanent termination without a prior warning.

Content moderation

Opinyn may use:

• user reports;
• human review;
• automated detection;
• technical signals;
• trusted or specialised notices;
• information from competent authorities.

Automated systems may assist with detection, ranking and enforcement. Where appropriate or legally required, significant decisions may be reviewed by a person.

Opinyn is not required to approve content before publication and cannot guarantee that all violations will be immediately detected.

Failure to remove content immediately does not mean Opinyn approves or endorses it.

Statement of reasons

Where required by applicable law, Opinyn will provide affected users with an explanation when content is removed or access is significantly restricted.

The explanation may include:

• the affected content or account;
• the action taken;
• the principal reason;
• the rule or legal basis involved;
• whether automated systems contributed materially;
• available appeal options.

Information may be limited where disclosure would create a safety risk, compromise an investigation or violate applicable law.

Appeals

If you believe a moderation decision was incorrect, you may submit an appeal through the method provided in the decision notice or by emailing info@opinyn.com.

Your appeal should include:

• your account information;
• identification of the affected content;
• the decision being challenged;
• why you believe the decision was incorrect;
• relevant context or evidence.

Opinyn will assess eligible appeals in a timely, diligent and non-discriminatory manner.

Possible appeal outcomes include:

• confirmation of the original decision;
• modification of the restriction;
• restoration of content;
• restoration of account access;
• correction of associated statistics;
• another appropriate action.

Submitting an appeal does not automatically suspend the original decision.

Abusive, fraudulent, repetitive or manifestly unfounded appeals may be rejected.

Repeat violations

Opinyn may take stronger action against users who repeatedly violate these Community Guidelines.

Relevant factors may include:

• number of previous violations;
• severity;
• time between violations;
• attempts to evade enforcement;
• impact on other users;
• misuse of anonymous features;
• manipulation of reporting or voting systems.

Opinyn may temporarily suspend the processing of reports or complaints from persons who repeatedly submit manifestly unfounded notices, where permitted by law and after appropriate assessment.

Cooperation with authorities

Opinyn may preserve or disclose relevant information where required or permitted by law, including in connection with:

• child exploitation;
• credible threats to life or safety;
• terrorism;
• serious violent crime;
• valid court or administrative orders;
• protection of legal rights;
• another legal obligation.

Opinyn does not guarantee that it will intervene in every dispute between users.

Changes to these guidelines

Opinyn may update these Community Guidelines to address:

• new Service features;
• emerging safety risks;
• changes in law;
• abuse patterns;
• operational or technical changes.

The current version will be made available through the Service.

Where changes materially affect users, additional notice will be provided where required.

Content should normally be reported through the in-app reporting function.

For urgent danger or emergencies, contact the relevant emergency services or competent authorities.
