Delete your Opinyn account
You may request permanent deletion of your Opinyn account and associated personal data at any time. In the app it happens straight away.
From the app
- Open Opinyn and go to your Profile tab.
- Tap the settings icon in the top right, then Account.
- Tap Delete account, read what it does, and tap Continue.
- Confirm it's you — your password, your username, or Apple's own check for an account that signs in with Apple — tick the box, and tap Permanently delete account.
The account is deleted at once, and we send a confirmation to its email address where we can.
By email
If you can no longer sign in, email info@opinyn.com from the address your account is registered to and ask us to delete it. We may contact you to verify account ownership. Deletion from active systems is completed as soon as reasonably possible and no later than 30 days after successful verification.
What is deleted
- Your account and email address
- Your profile — username, display name, bio, profile photo, date of birth and gender
- Every dilemma you posted, under your name or anonymously, with its photos and videos
- Your votes, comments, reactions, likes and saved dilemmas — the vote counts on other people's dilemmas are corrected
- Your private messages, with the photos and videos in them; a direct conversation with you is removed for the other person too
- Who you follow and who follows you
- Your Aura, rank and badges
- Your notifications, notification settings and device push token
What may remain
- Aggregated and anonymised voting statistics that no longer identify you
- Copies in protected backups, overwritten within 90 days
- Limited records we must keep for legal, safety, fraud-prevention or security reasons, such as moderation decisions
Deleting the Opinyn app from your phone does not delete your account.
